Monolingual
iTaukei Dictionary
The Monolingual iTaukei Dictionary was launched on the 29th of June 2007 by
his Excellency the President of the Republic of the Fiji Islands,
Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda. The dictionary contains approximately
24, 783 words. Cabinet has endorsed the publication, especially
the new spelling and grammar system used in iTaukei
writing embraced by the dictionary.

Newsletter
The Institute published its first newsletter on November 2008
titled Lialiaci. The Newsletter is quarterly published and
has been distributed to the public and the Provincial offices.
The 5th issue was circulated on March, 2010. If your institution

Publication
and Launch of iTaukei Medicine Book
The Institute has yet
again embarked on a major publication after the successful
printing and launch of the Monolingual iTaukei Dictionary.
The new book titled: Wai Vakaviti is a collection of iTaukei herbal remedies from indigenous herbalists and medicinal
people. Publicized with their consent, the aim of the publication
is to create awareness amongst iTaukei of the need
to use their natural resources to heal and cure ailments and
the related sicknesses and injuries which may be costly to
treat in national hospitals and healthcare centres. The book
is a second of a series of publications earmarked by the Institute.
The book was launched
on 25th February 2009 and can be bought at a price of $15.00
per copy at the office and also at USP book center.

Tikotiko
Kina
Releasing soon, the first ever anthology of iTaukei Myths &
Legends. The title of the book is “Tikotiko
Kina,” parallel to the all time ‘Once
upon a time’ classic to all children’s stories
in western literature.
The anthology, the
culmination of decades of research from predecessors long
gone, is a collection of legends created to appeal to both
children and adults. It is written in standard iTaukei on A4
size paper, on semi-gloss paper with colored illustrations
and a laminated paperback.
