Applicants who select
programmes of study that are available in a local institution
will not be considered for overseas awards unless such courses
are specifically advertised.
In cases where applicants
are already overseas and are pursuing programmes of study,
which are otherwise available locally, assistance if given
will be limited to equivalent local costs.
Applications from in-service
candidates interested in pursuing post-graduate studies in
areas not available locally must have the endorsement and
recommendation of their employers.
PURSUIT OF HIGHER LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
Priority will be given
to field of studies where there is a shortage of qualified
Indigenous. Emphasis has been given to degree courses in Law,
Commerce, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Medicine, Veterinary
Science, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Education (particularly for
secondary school teachers).
The pursuit of multiple
first and second degrees is not a priority, unless the nature
of required expertise deems this absolutely essential.
Priority will be given
to applicants who intend to pursue advertised undergraduate
programmes. It would be noted that a first qualification could
either be achieved through a direct entry into the Bachelor’s
programme or, as in most of the highly technical and professional
fields, of completing the pre-requisite diploma modules before
entry into a degree mode.
